Abstract: The purpose of this research is to examine the connectedness between the recent spread of COVID-19 and the global policy measures proposed to mitigate its economic and social impact. The magnitude of the financial pandemic effects is unprecedented, affecting more the advanced and emerging economies. The empirical results confirm unique cooperation and coordination between organizations and governments from all over the world. This paper reviews some of the best practices implemented by global governments and financial institutions, focusing on a selection of the European Union's Member States (MS). The fiscal and monetary policies have a direct impact on the economic evolution and the citizens' wellbeing.
