The Ripple Effect of COVID-19 in Romania’s Economic Environment

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic impact on the global economy is unforeseen before. The virus' rapid spread has affected the worldwide financial, especially disrupting the sectors of health, tourism, and services. This paper's objective is to comprise an understanding on how the pandemic affects Romania. Based on a qualitative research, the present article includes the impact of COVID-19 in terms of trade, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, and policy measures adopted up to the moment of writing. The study also addresses several recommendations to be further implemented to propel Romania on the world competitiveness map.
