Abstract: Abstract The objective of this study is to explore the internal and external factors influencing a firm’s adoption of disruptive technologies under the 4th Industrial Revolution era. Building upon the literature of exporting, international marketing, and strategic management, this study attempts to shed light on the factors that may influence a firm’s strategic response in adopting the 4th Industrial Revolution for their business operation, product and service. Based on survey data of 223 Korean exporting firms, we find that international orientation, firm size, market uncertainty, and technological turbulence are the important factors for the adoption of the 4th Industrial Revolution related technologies for Korean firms. This study advances the exporting literature by embracing recent phenomenon of the 4th Industrial Revolution and provides implications along with future research agendas.
