Abstract: Abstract Drawing on the “technology-strategy” fit and resource integration perspective, this study investigates the interaction effect of digital intensity (technology) and transformation management intensity (strategy) on service enhancement and its mediator role of resource integration. Data from 268 Chinese manufacturing firms analyzed by PLS-SEM suggest: (1) The interaction effect between transformation management intensity and digital intensity improves service enhancement. However, transformation management intensity and digital intensity alone cannot increase service enhancement. (2) Resource integration mediates the relationship between transformation management intensity and service enhancement. (3) Although digital intensity does not indirectly influence service enhancement through resource integration, its interaction effect with transformation management intensity on resource integration can increase service enhancement. This study advances our understanding of the antecedents of service enhancement and the consequences of digital transformation, elucidating the “black box” of how digital transformation impacts service enhancement. It provides practical insights for effectively utilizing digital technology to enhance services.
