Abstract: Abstract The bifurcated global economy resulting from the US–China rivalry presents significant challenges for international business (IB) and multinational enterprises (MNEs), emphasizing the need for a greater focus on geopolitics and international relations. This tension has fragmented the international trade landscape, disrupting business activities and necessitating fresh insights from IB research. MNEs must adopt sophisticated strategies that account for regional variations and geopolitical dynamics. Engaging in corporate diplomacy, employing appropriate non-market strategies, and pursuing strategic localization can help MNEs navigate these complexities. IB research must adapt and proactively guide businesses through today’s volatile and fragmented global environment.
