Abstract:
The study examines the effects of production facilities maintenance practices on competitive advantage of some selected firms in the paint manufacturing industry, Benin City, Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research, through the administration of structured questionnaires to three hundred and ninety-five (395) staff of eight selected paint companies. The data were analysed using regression and Pearson matrix correlation techniques through Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimation technique. The result showed a weak positive significant relationship between reactive maintenance and the competitive advantage of the firms and a strong positive significant relationship between preventive maintenance and the competitive advantage of the firms. The study establishes that the integration of production facilities maintenance practices can strategically contribute towards realization of significant competitive advantage of the firms.
