Abstract: Elections in local authorities represents, aside a democratic exercise, a means of acquiring a particular legitimacy for the representatives of citizens in local administrative authorities. However, local elections, as these have been organized in the last three decades, regulated by a few normative acts that have succeeded over time, represent a characteristic of the Romanian legal system and certain analyses, conclusions and perhaps even suggestions can be made from the several electoral cycles completed under the current Constitution.
