Abstract: The article commemorates the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. It is divided into three parts. The first part describes the economic situation of the Czechoslovak Republic before the outbreak of World War II. The second part deals with the destruction of the Czechoslovak monetary system due to the country´s disintegration in 1938 and Nazi occupation during the War. The monetary reform of 1945 and its effects are analyzed in the third part. The 70th anniversary of the entry of Czechoslovakia into the International Monetary Fund and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development is also dealt with.
