Si l'on considère que la confiance est une croyance à propos d'une relation, comment savoir si autrui agit pour garantir son intention d'honorer sa confiance ou seulement pour donner une intention de garantie. Aussi, la recherche des conditions de la confiance consiste à expliciter comment cette indétermination peut être levée. La confiance doit s'appuyer sur des croyances collectives, des pratiques sociales et des règles. Ensuite, nous dégageons deux conditions de stabilité de la confiance : la création d'irréversibilités dues au fait de suivre une règle ; la création d'un intervalle de fonctionnement des règles à l'intérieur duquel les stratégies individuelles n'ont pas d'ambiguïté. Insofar as trust is considered as a belief about a relationship, how can we know whether somebody acts in order to guarantee his intention to trust or only acts in order to give an intention of guarantee. As a consequence, a research of the conditions of trust consists in searching the ways in which this underdetermination can overcome. Trust must be grounded on collective beliefs, social practices and rules. Then we bring out two conditions of trust stability: firstly, the emergence of irreversibilities which result of following a rule; secondly, the creation of an interval in which rules operate. In that interval, individual strategies are without ambiguities.
