Abstract:
The author, a member of the "Saraceno Commission", describes the debate on the feasibility and objectives of planning in the Italian economy. The article summarises the main discussions on the best strategies to maintain a high rate of growth, eliminate regional and sectorial inequalities, achievement of comparable levels of public and private consumption to the other main European countries.
