Abstract:
Dieser Beitrag beleuchtet die Frage, inwieweit Personalrecruiter das Internet nutzen, um den persoenlichen Hintergrund ihrer Bewerber auszuleuchten. Waehrend das Thema in den Tagesmedien ausfuehrlich eroertert wurde, beginnt die Forschung gerade erst, sich dafuer zu interessieren. Mit diesem Beitrag werden die Ergebnisse eines verdeckten Experiments veroeffentlicht. Unter Nutzung zweier erfundener Bewerberprofile wurden 150 Initiativbewerbungen auf den Weg gebracht und die Reaktionen der Firmen ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse legen die Vermutung nahe, dass Google & Co. zum Standardrepertoire vieler deutscher Arbeitgeber gehoeren. (This paper examines how far recruiters use the internet to illuminate the applicant’s background. While this matter is widely discussed in the daily press, the scientific community is only just beginning to show interest in the topic. This paper is based on an experimental exploration. We designed two invented online candidate profiles and sent unsolicited applications to 150 firms. The results show that the use of Google & co. may be a standard procedure in the recruiting process for a significant number of German companies.)
