THE ROMANIAN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF INTEGRATION OF ROMANIA INTO THE EUROPEAN UNION

Cezar Mereuta

Journal for Economic Forecasting, 2004, vol. 1, issue 1, 25-37

Abstract: The paper analyzes the role of the manufacturing industry as an economic development vector from the perspective of the integration of Romania into the European Union, on the basis of a structural breakdown following specific criteria that take into account the use of resources, the technological level, the position of certain sectors within the system and the destinations of the products. From the perspective of the integration of Romania into the European Union, the results point out to the urgency of employing a strategic approach regarding the increase in the competitiveness of the Romanian manufacturing industry, explicitly structured along two dimensions – attractiveness and aggressiveness.
