A DETERMINISTIC METHOD FOR SHORT-TERM GDP EVALUATION

Cristian Stanica ()

Journal for Economic Forecasting, 2003, issue 2, 122-132

Abstract: The paper attempts to estimate the monthly components of the nominal GDP in order to obtain the monthly nominal GDP for the Romanian economy. All the quarterly time series are available at current prices since 1994 to 2001. The method is a deterministic algorithm that computes unobserved monthly series based on the information content in their quarterly data. The results show that the Romanian GDP reaches a maximum every year in October and a minimum in January.
