Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyse the role of NGOs in the public decision-making process in European countries as well as Romania and the extent to which their involvement passes beyond the formal stage. The first part of the paper describes the current relationship between NGOs and government and how it influences the public decision-making process in Romania. The second part of the paper comparatively analyzes the experience of some European countries regarding NGOs involvement in the public decision making process and identifies the theoretical and practical aspects that can be implemented in Romania. The end of the paper presents the final conclusions on the subject under discussion.
