Abstract: The Intensive Protective Supervision Project (IPSP) is designed to address the populations of "status offenders," or "undisciplined children." A number of legislative and programmatic influences antedated the current project in North Carolina. This article provides a brief summary of the major events affecting the evolution of the IPSP.
