Abstract:
The article attacks the Chinese "Three World" thesis and argues that the world is united by the hegemony of U.S. imperialism. The "Third World" is shown to be under increasing U.S. domination through the mechanism of dependence on U.S. debt, on U.S. capital and technological exports and on U.S. investment and aid. The "second world's" competition with U.S. imperial ism is shown to be limited by its economic and institutional ties with the U.S. world system that was established after World War II. The Soviet world, while not in a relation of dependence, is too weak economically to pose a mortal threat to U.S. hegemony.
