Abstract:
This paper discusses the effects of a natural disaster upon regional economic structure. The case of Miami and Hurricane Andrew is examined. Analysis of the post-Andrew situation in Miami shows a temporary disruption at the aggregated level, but differential spatial impacts which will affect the long-run relationships within the urban economy and the social division of labor.
