Abstract: The bridges between medicine and simulation are many and varied. This introductory article presents some of the topics covered in this symposium on simulation in medicine and healthcare. The importance of the theme is noted, and some of the recurring topics are discussed briefly, such as debriefing, design, technology, hands-on training, and modeling.
