Abstract:

The article considers the economic and environmental problems and inefficiency of modern type of production. Accordingly, the author identifies the areas which cause economic and ecological crisis situation both globally and on the level of a country, particularly Ukraine. It has been established that the type of production existing in today’s society, including its irrationality in terms of economy and ecology, also influences the worsening of global environmental problems such as a climate change, in particular. The article describes the line type of production in terms of its effects on the basis of which the author forms the prerequisites of transition to circular economy which include the issue of resources, the problem of pollution and the problem of linear type of production. The study has found the inefficiency of domestic waste management on the basis of analysis of data on volumes of waste and their disposal, incineration, disposal and storage volumes over the past twenty four years. The article also estimates the amount of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in recent years. Taking into account the critical data derived from the analysis, the author proves the necessity to transfer to an alternative model called the circular economy which can ensure steady development without negative pressure on the environment.

Розглянуто економіко-екологічні проблеми та обґрунтовано недієвість сучасного типу виробництва. Відповідно, визначено проблемні питання, що обумовлюють кризове економіко-екологічне становище як в глобальному масштабі, так і на рівні окремої країни, зокрема України. Встановлено, що тип виробництва, який існує в сучасному суспільстві, враховуючи його нераціональність з точки зору економіки та екології, впливає також на загострення глобальних екологічних проблем, зокрема таких, як зміна клімату. Охарактеризовано лінійний тип виробництва з точки зору його наслідків, на основі чого сформовано передумови переходу до циркулярної економіки, до яких належить проблема ресурсів, проблема забруднення навколишнього середовища та проблема неефективності лінійного типу виробництва. В процесі дослідження встановлено недієвість вітчизняної системи поводження з відходами на підставі здійсненого аналізу даних щодо обсягів утворення відходів, їх утилізації, спалення, видалення та обсягів накопичення за останні двадцять чотири роки. Також оцінено обсяги забруднення навколишнього середовища та викидів парникових газів в атмосферу за останні роки. Зважаючи на критичні дані, отримані в результаті аналізу, встановлено необхідність переходу до альтернативної моделі – циркулярної економіки, що здатна забезпечити стійкий розвиток без негативного тиску на навколишнє середовище.
