Abstract:

This article is a theoretical and consists of an introduction, two parts and descriptive summary. Its main goal is to switch the main types of risks in the banking business and ways to reduce them. In the first part of the article we defined the concept of risk and then discussed the most important types of banking risks according to different classification criteria. The second part of the article was devoted to ways of reducing the risk of the bank, in particular, it has been presented in the most important banking prudential regulations existing in Poland. It should be emphasized that these standards are based on regulations issued by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and EU directives. The article concludes with a short summary.
