Abstract:
Open Government is a new way of organizing a state’s activities which uses modern information and communication tools in order to increase the participation of its citizens in governing and to apply their knowledge and commitment to effective problem solving. Therefore, activities the open government carries out are characterized by openness to cooperation – a feature of many web applications associated with the era of Web 2.0. Openness is also linked to open licenses. The article describes the initiatives to implement ideas of Open Government Data in Poland and abroad.
