The potential of official statistics in creating an information society

Abstract: Publishing official statistics data has great potential for the active creation of an information society. This can be achieved by using the relevant data visualization and proper publishing channels. Never the less these tools are not the complete answer to the problem, and a crucial element is required for the development of an information society: statistical education.
