Abstract: The article attempts to evaluate ways of measuring the digital economy. The European Union’s approach to monitoring the digital economy is analyzed, especially the DESI (Digital Economy and Society Index). The thesis is that currently used measuring methods do not fully correspond to the phenomena occurring in the real world.
