Abstract:
Energy security is a key for the contemporary economies and societies, and approaches of its quantitative assessment allow monitoring the current state and more accurate forecasting for the development of the sector in a complex technological, economic, legal and political environment. The article aims to characterize the approaches and methods used in the field of assessing the state of energy security and is an attempt to categorize them by the criterion of the areas of applications. For indicating the applications of the analyzed energy security indicators, the general category “security of supply” was selected as well as four risk factors: economic, political, technological and environmental.
