Abstract: Abstract The measurement of complexity is a metric that can be used as a restructuring parameter in a production system, and it is also useful for the analysis of improvements based on the impact of operational indicators. This article aims to review the literature on the measurement of complexity in manufacturing systems. For this purpose, a systematic method based on six stages has been used, with the support of databases and computer media. In terms of contribution, it is worth highlighting that the theory of complexity is immersed in manufacturing systems, represented in approaches, methods, elements and models for its measurement. From the results, the research aims to find vectors for future challenges and gaps that support the strengthening of the industrial environment.
