Abstract: Abstract This paper is concerned with the existence and the maximum principle for optimal control problems governed by the periodic vibrating string equation on (0, π)×(0, T) with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The case of internal controllers supported on ω⊂(0, π) is examined.
