Abstract: Abstract We study the Clarke generalized gradient of the D-gap functions for the variational inequality problem (VIP) defined by a locally Lipschitz, but not necessarily differentiable, function in an Euclidean space. Using these results, we study the relationship between minimizing sequences and stationary sequences of the D-gap function, regardless of the existence of solutions of (VIP).
