Abstract:
Research on successful strategies for monitoring shareholdings in management holdings has not advanced beyond the rudimentary stages until now. In this article, the authors develop strategies to maximize the success of monitoring and deduce the relevant design parameters. Structural equation modeling is used to empirically test the resulting hypotheses. The results show that 65 percent of the variance in monitoring effectiveness and 44 percent in monitoring efficiency can be explained. This constitutes an essential contribution to a better understanding of the key factors for success in controlling management holdings. Copyright Springer-Verlag 2006
