Abstract: Abstract The paper explores the process of integration of CEE countries into the broader EU and global research landscapes in social sciences. We use bibliometric data extracted from the Scopus database for the 1996–2017 period and investigate changes between pre- and post-EU accession periods for 11 new and 4 prospective EU members, all post-socialist countries. In line with the previous literature, the descriptive statistic indicates that productivity in terms of the number of papers as well as the ratio of published papers in non-CEE vs. CEE journals has improved. The citation ratios are strongly in favor of non-CEE journals across all fields of social sciences. In general, productivity rises, while impact remains moderate with variations across scientific fields. Thus, the process of integration is in place, albeit at a slow pace.
