On weighted utilitarianism and an application

Anirudha Balasubramanian ()

Social Choice and Welfare, 2015, vol. 44, issue 4, 745-763

Abstract: This paper discusses and evaluates some axiomatic approaches to weighted utilitarianism. It then offers a new and direct proof for weighted utilitarianism under full comparability which yields, as a corollary, U. Ebert’s result on rank-weighted utilitarianism.
