Abstract: Abstract— The study examines the methodological essence of the replacement rate as a criterion for the effectiveness of the state pension system. A comprehensive actuarial-statistical analysis of the peculiarities of the domestic pension system as an object of economic assessment is given and specific methods of its application are proposed, taking into account the tasks of achieving the targets of the government Strategy for the long-term development of the pension system in Russia (2012). As a result of the study, calculations of indicators have been carried out that allow us to assess the effectiveness of the domestic pension system in accordance with global principles, as well as substantiated proposals to improve its efficiency.
