Abstract: Abstract— There is considerable uncertainty in the global scientific community about the long-term outlook for global demand for plastics, with forecasts ranging from rapid growth to stagnation and decline. The article discusses the historical and current trends in the development of demand for plastics and forms a model toolkit for its forecasting. According to the results of the calculations, it was found that the growth of global demand is almost guaranteed until 2050, however, its dynamics will vary greatly by region and will significantly depend on new measures to combat plastic pollution.
