Abstract:
Abstract— The article examines the problems of the spatial development of the Russian economy and the socio-economic prospects of its individual territories, due to current external and internal challenges, such as the reorientation of foreign economic relations to the southern and eastern directions, global processes of greening and strengthening the technological closeness of the leading countries of the world. To this end, the main institutional aspects that determine the role of space in the functioning of the economic system, as well as the required reconfiguration of Russia’s spatial development policy, are considered. The results of the study indicate the need to rethink the role of individual regions of Russia in order to ensure the advancing sustainable development of the country in modern realities.
