Abstract: Abstract— An analysis of progress in the development of a national system of indicators for sustainable development and its compliance with the current tasks of the Russian agro-industrial complex was carried out. The distribution of target indicators in the current strategic documents defining the development of the agro-industrial complex was carried out in accordance with the goals and objectives set by the UN. It has been established that the existing indicative system is not only not coordinated within the framework of the implementation of strategic development programs, but also does not clearly interpret the current tasks of state agro-industrial policy. A methodological approach to the formation of a balanced system of indicators for monitoring and assessing the sustainable development of the domestic agro-industrial complex is proposed. The results of the study revealed the problem of mismatch of strategic priorities and the lack of balance of strategic planning documents in relation to established goals and objectives.
