Abstract: Abstract The article analyzes the dynamics of public investment and its role in the economic development of different countries. Particular attention was paid to the situation in Russia at the present stage, the main parameters of the budget system, and various scenarios for the dynamics of budget investment volumes in the short term have been considered as one of the most important sources of funds for the implementation of projects that can act as catalysts for economic growth. The issues of a qualitative level have been touched upon, including the need to consider the goals, objectives, institutions, instruments and conditions for the implementation of public investment to determine the necessary volumes and improve their efficiency.
