Abstract: Abstract— The article examines the role and place of the Spatial Development Strategy in the system of management instruments of the Russian economy. The position is substantiated on the predominantly macroeconomic nature of actions aimed at developing space, and the need to supplement most industry projects and programs with them. The most effective strategy in the current state of the Russian economy is recognized as supporting existing growth points and managing spatial differentiation on their basis. The use of the spatial factor of economic development requires a gradual shift in the focus of the implementation of investment projects to the regions and, accordingly, a certain restructuring of the system of interbudgetary relations. The inertia of the Russian economy presupposes a long-term and targeted nature of the implementation of the Spatial Development Strategy.
