Abstract: Abstract The article examines key approaches to the analysis of global value chains (GVCs), taking into account their impact on employment. The methodology of analysis at the macroeconomic and microeconomic levels is analyzed. It is shown that in modern studies on the problem of GVCs, the issues of the influence of global production cooperation on the structure of employment and incomes of the population are of a key nature, and the scale and direction of these effects do not always coincide with the parameters of production and added value. Calculations are given for the Russian economy, which demonstrate significant features of employment formation with the increase in export activities. Special attention is paid to issues of information support for calculations on employment topics related to GVC. The existing limitations and the need to expand sources of data on the international division of labor are noted.
