Abstract: Abstract The article reviews existing domestic and foreign approaches to assessing natural and economic damages to public health caused by environmental pollution (sanitary and hygiene factors of the living environment). The object of the study is the methodology for assessing health risks to the population and the economic losses to the state and society. The advantages and disadvantages of existing methodological approaches are presented. Dynamic series of the population’s mortality and morbidity rates attributed to the quality of the environment as well as assessments of economic losses from health disruptions among the population are also provided.
