Italian women economists hidden in history

Manuela Mosca

The European Journal of the History of Economic Thought, 2026, vol. 33, issue 2, 193-200

Abstract: No female names appear in existing handbooks on the history of Italian economic thought. This article reconstructs the work of a group of scholars aimed at identifying and studying women who engaged with economic issues in Italian history. It discusses the methodological choices essential for bringing women economists out of invisibility and provides a brief account of the women identified through this research and their economic ideas.
