Rail as the Way Forward

Jim Steer

Public Money & Management, 2005, vol. 25, issue 3, 163-170

Abstract: It is a paradox that Britain's rail industry is now leading Europe in terms of growth in passengers and freight, while policy has been tightly focused on cost management and performance reliability. The author looks beyond these two good management principles to set out a strategy for the rail sector, and outlines how it can address issues of national economic competitiveness.
