Abstract: The Montevideo-Oxford Latin American Economic History Database "MOxLAD" provides statistical series for a wide range of economic and social indicators covering the Latin American countries for the period 1870-2010. In this paper we describe the origins and the content of MOxLAD as well as some examples of the procedure to produce the estimates in order to achieve consistency and comparability of the data series, over time and between countries.
