The Fourth International Workshop on Demand-Led Growth: Extensions from Conflict Inflation

Review of Political Economy, 2025, vol. 37, issue 3, 1087-1089

Abstract: In 2021/2022, many countries around the world struggled with sudden increasing rates of inflation as an aftermath of various global and domestic economic pressures such as the Covid-19 and the Russian–Ukraine war. This situation reignited age-long debate concerning inflation and growth. The Fourth International Workshop on Demand-Led Growth, held at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2023, took place at the peak of this renewed debate. The workshop involved the presentation of papers on linkages between the demand-led growth supermultiplier model and endogenous money, intersections between social classes, ‘sellers’ inflation’, environmentalism and policy measures to restore growth and lower levels of inflation. These presentations culminated in three articles published in a special issue on conflict inflation in the Review of Political Economy.
