The Economic Contributions of David M. Gordon

Heather Boushey and Steven Pressman

Review of Political Economy, 1997, vol. 9, issue 2, 225-245

Abstract: Throughout his too brief career, David Gordon made many contributions to economics. His social structure of accumulation model sought to explain the economic performance of the US based upon whether institutional structures are conducive to profitability and growth. His work in labour economics sought to explain slow productivity and wage growth in the US. And his work in macroeconomics sought to compare and test different macroeconometric models. Throughout all his work, David sought to develop a radical alternative to mainstream economics and to build enduring radical institutions.
