Abstract: In this paper, we describe an efficient bridging protocol for interconnection of cognitive personal area networks (CPANs) and evaluate its performance through probabilistic analysis. We also take into account the impact of collisions with primary user transmissions through probabilistic analysis and renewal theory. As the bridge roams between CPANs at will (i.e. without predefined scheduling), performance of both local and non-local traffic in either CPAN depends on the local and non-local traffic intensities. The results also show that the collisions with primary source transmissions do not affect bridge performance at low to medium CPAN traffic.
