Laura A. Albert, Alexander Nikolaev and Sheldon H. Jacobson

IISE Transactions, 2023, vol. 55, issue 1, 22-31

Abstract: Homeland security research has gone through a significant transformation since the events of September 11, 2001, and continues to evolve. This article identifies opportunities that the industrial engineering and operations research communities can seize. By drawing together insights from thought leaders in these communities, a path outlining research problems and discovery is provided that will serve to guide industrial engineering and operations research innovations and help move homeland security research forward over the next decade.
