Speaking Stata: Transforming the time axis

Nicholas Cox

Stata Journal, 2012, vol. 12, issue 2, 332–341

Abstract: The time variable is most commonly plotted precisely as recorded in graphs showing change over time. However, if the most interesting part of the graph is very crowded, then transforming the time axis to give that part more space is worth consideration. In this column, I discuss logarithmic scales, square root scales, and scale breaks as possible solutions. Copyright 2012 by StataCorp LP.
