Abstract:
In this research, we partnered with experienced philanthropic givers, generous individuals who prioritize supporting community-based nonprofits, which are organizations based in a particular locality working to address pressing problems such as poverty, hunger, housing, and healthcare. We constructed a framework that defines the collaborative giving mindset these philanthropic givers bring to their support of community-based nonprofits and provides direction to encourage future collaboration. This framework builds on insights drawn from their experiences and academic research on philanthropy. Finally, we call on researchers to further investigate and advance knowledge about how a collaborative giving mindset impacts philanthropy, community well-being, and transformative social change.
