The concept of sustainable development: macro-, middle- and micro-levels

Abstract: The article shows some theoretical aspects of sustainable development of economic systems of various levels of the organization and management are opened: macro- (countries), middle- (regions), micro- (firms); the connection between these categories is also establishing. The authors reveal the basic components of sustainable development of the local territories (first of all, regions). In end – the general analysis of world firms-leaders in Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) from 2002 to 2009 is carrying out.
