Abstract:
The major purpose of this paper is to determine the factors that are related to migration performance. The benchmark study was conducted with 157 high school seniors in 1948 to determine migration expectations and background characteristics. The same respondents were reinterviewed in 1956 and again in 1967 concerning their migration performance. There were 152 respondents in 1956 and 143 in 1967. Analysis of the data for the 143 respondents revealed that sex, migration intentions, college aspirations, frequency of discussion with parents, and males' occupational attainments were related to migration performance. Factors not related to migration performance included 1948 residence and 1948 socioeconomic background.
