Abstract:
Lebanon ranks first among Arab countries and 27th among all countries in the world, regarding investments in Romania. Lebanese investments on the Romanian market amount to approximately 2 billion euros and over 4,000 companies, and this proves that the Lebanese are powerful economic figures in the Romanian economy. The Lebanese have successfully understood and implemented the concept of knowledge-economy, due they innovate through each business plan, through creativity, originality, through the design and concept of their businesses, their intellectual capital being at a high level. This paper focuses on identifying what Lebanese investors find attractive in Romania, what are the factors that encourage the Lebanese entrepreneurial spirit and what is the key behind the successful knowledge-economy concept of Lebanese entrepreneurs. A descriptive research will be conducted, based on data from the National Trade Register Office in Romania, on the evolution of Lebanese entrepreneurship on the Romanian market, from 2018, the period before the economic and social crisis in Lebanon and until the present. A qualitative research will be conducted with H.E. Mrs. Rana Mokaddem, Ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon to Romania. The interview with open questions with the Ambassador aims to identify what attracts Lebanese investors to Romania; how many companies with Lebanese capital/Lebanese entrepreneurs exist in Romania; what is the key to the success of Lebanese entrepreneurs and what is the strategy of the Embassy of Lebanon to promote Lebanese entrepreneurs. In 2023, there were 4,574 companies in Romania, 9% more than in 2018, 4,187 companies. Lebanese have successful careers in entrepreneurship, thanks to their entrepreneurial education, received from school and family, due to creativity, courage, and risk-taking. This work is innovative, because it sheds light on the entrepreneurial success of Lebanese in Romania, an entrepreneurial spirit that investors from Lebanon possess as an innate characteristic.
